Detailed Conference Information

The California Regional Water Quality Control Boards, the California State Water Resources Control Board, the California Coast Commission and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency invite you to participate in the 2008 California Nonpoint Source (NPS) Conference: Integrated Watershed Management - Reducing Nonpoint Source Contamination. This event will highlight specific projects and practices being used to successfully address the leading cause of water quality impairments in California-nonpoint source pollution.

The theme for this year's conference is "Integrated Watershed Management: Reducing Nonpoint Source Pollution." The conference will focus on how sustainability and an integrated holistic watershed perspective can be incorporated into nonpoint source (NPS) problem-solving steps, through local, regional, and global efforts. The conference will have three main themes, reflecting three focuses of watershed work in the NPS field; Planning, Implementation, and Monitoring.

The event will offer an opportunity to examine and learn from the numerous NPS pollution control projects that have been supported by state and federal funds, especially Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 319 and Bond Propositions 13, 40 and 50. It will promote technology transfer by examining on-the-ground examples related to agriculture, forestry, urban development, marinas and boating, hydromodification and habitat alteration, abandoned mines and other land use activities that affect water quality. The 2008 conference will include plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, a poster reception, a field trip, training workshops and plenty of networking opportunities.
